Managing GHG emissions in the supply chain

Two new standards were published this week for businesses to measure, manage, and report their greenhouse gas emissions. The guidelines, jointly developed by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), were launched under the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, an “international accounting tool for government and business leaders to understand, quantify, and manage greenhouse gas emissions”. Are flex fuel engines an obstacle to low carbon mobility in Brazil?

Brazil has been championing biofuels and “flex fuel” engines for some time and for good reasons. Flex fuel engines run on any possible combination of ethanol and gasoline. Since all gasoline in Brazil has 25% of ethanol, flex fuel engines can run on any mix of  ethanol and gasoline, beginning at 25% to 75%, up to 100% ethanol. More »
